Maine snowshoeing is popular and accessible to any healthy walker

Snowshoe trails and paths are found throughout Maine – at major ski areas, cross country ski areas and in state parks. And you can usually just start out from your lodging on a short trek. Ski areas and commercial cross country ski venues often rent snowshoes and provide a lesson on how to use them properly. The modern snowshoe is a vast improvement over the old wood and rawhide models now found adorning walls in restaurants and lodges.
