Visit many of Maine’s cheese makers in their creameries, meet the animals, and learn the stories behind Maine’s more than 150 artisan cheese varieties. Harvest Fest & Chowdah Cook-off -- Bethel, ME

This old-fashioned fun fall festival includes an arts and crafts fair, "chowdah" cook-off, apple pie contest, demonstrations, hiking, biking, canoeing, chain saw carving, apple picking, farmers market, plenty of food, guided and self-guided bike tours and more. Garlic Festival -- Southwest Harbor, ME

Foliage, Food and Wine Festival – Blue Hill, ME

Don't miss the wine dinners at local restaurants, an artisan chocolate making class, traditional lobster bake, and the Taste of the Peninsula event showcasing the best of local chefs and food producers. Events include Omlets for Omnivores at the the Breakfast Shed in Brooksville followed by a guided hike in Holbrook Island Sanctuary; a wine dinner at the Blue Hill Inn; Artisan Chocolate Making class at the Blue Hill Inn; a traditional lobster bake at Barncastle; a wine dinner at Arborvine; A Taste of the Peninsula at Mainescape Garden Center. Harvest on the Harbor -- Portland, ME
October 21, 2010 to October 23, 2010
Harvest on the Harbor, Maine's food and wine experience, will take place on along Portland's picturesque waterfront. This year’s event features the Ultimate Seafood Splash, a pristine spread of environmentally sustainable seafood samplings and savory wines, and The Perfect Pairing, an epicurean affair featuring gourmet hors d'oeuvres, paired with the perfect pours.  Guests also have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the highly popular Grand Tasting on the Harbor and the Lobster Chef of the Year Competition.  Location: Ocean Gateway, 14 Ocean Gateway Pier. Time: Thursday, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 6 - 8:30 p.m.; Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 5 - 7 p.m.; Saturday, noon - 2:30 p.m. and 4 - 6:30 p.m. Cost: $35 - $65 per session.
