Maine - Bed & Breakfasts
A wonderful subset of Maine hotels is the state’s bed and breakfasts, which are notable for their intimacy, beauty, tasteful furnishings, and historic connections. Many ME bed breakfasts are located in 19th-century homes and buildings and furnished with antiques or reproductions from that period. Other common amenities are fireplaces, Jacuzzis, decks or balconies, and stunning views of ocean, river, and mountains. Owners are eager to offer luxuries, large and small, for guests, from heated marble bathroom floors to lavish breakfast. Owners are happy to direct visitors to nearby attractions, like boutiques, art galleries, antique shops, restaurants, guided tours and cruises.

The Blue Hill Inn, a distinctive Federal style 1830s bed and breakfast with air conditioned rooms, is located in the sea coast village of Blue Hill, Maine. On an acre of land near the heart of the village and a block from the head of Blue Hill Bay, the inn is one of 76 structures on the National Register of Historic Places. Mature trees, a perennial garden, and a small grove of apple trees enhance the grounds. Individualized guest attention is the priority—innkeeper Sarah Pebworth and the staff of the inn personally oversee the details of each guest's stay. Full, “scrumptious breakfasts” with a choice of entree are served each morning and guests are invited to an hors d’oeuvre hour each evening. Amenities include turndown service with gourmet chocolates, coffee available 24 hours, a guest computer, and wireless internet service throughout the inn. The Blue Hill Inn enthusiastically supports the developing concepts of eco-tourism and sustainable practices and has been designated an Environmental Leader by the State of Maine.
