Maine Ski Areas

While best known for its coastline Maine can boast about great ski areas as well. The White Mountains spill into the state on its western edge. The biggest mountains include Saddleback, Sunday River and Sugarloaf. Within the region are many other full service ski areas. Scattered throughout Maine are smaller family-oriented ski mountains. Wherever you choose to ski you’ll find great facilities and ski schools, and lots and lots of snow.

For many years, the children of the Perkins Ridge area traveled long paths down to a hidden clearing on a hillside. They called this adventure: "A Visit to Lost Valley." In 1961, a rope tow and the ski lodge meant the birth of the Lost Valley Ski Area that exists today. Since then, Lost Valley Ski Area has grown to boast numerous trails, lifts, snow-making, and now hosts one of the largest ski schools in Maine with nearly one hundred instructors! Our lodge now enjoys an excellent reputation as a banquet and convention center. The staff at Lost Valley is proud to be a part of such a successful operation and welcomes all who come to enjoy the year-round facilities.
