Outdoor Adventures in Northern Maine

On Millinocket Lake, with direct views of Mt. Katahdin, the New England Outdoor Center has a nature adventure for everyone. Go whitewater rafting on the Penobscot River, watch a moose grazing on a wildlife tour, hit the mountain biking or snowmobile trails, learn to fly fish or cross-country ski. Glide over the lake on a paddle board, kayak or canoe. Hike gorgeous trails in the autumn, then explore those same pathways with snowshoes in winter. At the center, there are guided tours, equipment and gear rentals and enough lodging options (cabins, lodges, campground sites with cabin tents and hot showers) to suit everyone’s idea of communing with nature. The full-service base has a restaurant, lounge, fire pits and adirondack chairs perfect for watching sunsets and starry skies.
