Special ceremonies at sea make wedding experiences to remember

Lots of people get married near the water. But you can get married on the water by chartering one of the majestic schooners that make up the Maine Windjammer Association. Imagine the two of you exchanging vows on the deck of a windjammer under sail, a lighthouse in the distance, or at anchor by a beautiful beach or quaint harbor town. Most captains of the vessels, which can carry up to 40 overnight passengers and even larger groups for 1-day charters, are licensed to perform ceremonies, either at sea or dockside. And why settle for ordinary reception food when you can feast on Downeast dinners prepared by onboard chefs (they will even make you a nautical-themed cake). You will be having more than a wedding – you will be having an adventure.

From grand entrances to special venues, this inn will make your wedding memorable

Want to make a grand entrance to your wedding? The Spruce Point Inn has some fabulous ideas. How about making an entrance by sea aboard an historic wooden sailing sloop? Or come by land aboard a private trolley or antique auto from the historic Boothbay Railway Village. Take your vows on the Oceanfront Deck, against the sea and sky, then dine on exquisite local cuisine in a private post-and-beam ballroom. In the morning, bid farewell to family and friends with a brunch on the deck, overlooking the Burnt Island Lighthouse. This special inn by the water has one wedding a day, supervised by detail-oriented wedding coordinators.
