The Abbe Museum's Dawnland Festival Collaborates with the Smithsonian

The Dawnland Festival of Arts & Ideas returns on the campus of College of the Atlantic. Hosted by the Abbe Museum, this multi-day summer festival celebrates Wabanaki and Native thought leadership through panels, performances, and a Northeastern Native arts market.

The 2026 festival marks a special collaboration with the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage as part of the Of the People: Smithsonian Festival of Festivals. Select panels and performances will feature joint programming, while the festival remains firmly centered on Wabanaki voices, perspectives, and cultural stewardship.

Experience an inspiring evening with The Navy Band Sea Chanters, the U.S. Navy’s premier chorus, live in concert. Known for their rich harmonies and dynamic performances, the ensemble presents a powerful blend of patriotic favorites, traditional choral works, sea chanteys, opera selections, and Broadway classics.

Founded in 1956 and based in Washington, D.C., the Sea Chanters regularly perform for national leaders and audiences across the country. Their performances celebrate musical excellence, heritage, and the spirit of service.
